Work from quarter 3 is no longer accepted. Please remember the March reading log is due on April 8th. Once again, missing work is available in class and on Google Classroom. Week of March 23 - March 27, 2026
This week, students began working on some post-reading activities for the informational article titled, "It's Not Just a Game." This article is published in the HMH Into Literature textbook. Students completed a pro/con graphic organizer to support the question: What are the benefits and disadvantages of playing sports? Students located key evidence from the text to support both sides of the issue. Students have learned that playing sports have both a psychological impact and a social impact on humans. Students also began a debate activity that showed their writing and communication skills while locating evidence from the text. Students also spent time reading their personal novel selections or informational articles published in Junior Scholastic magazines.
The required daily materials for this class: silent reading book, spiral notebook, binder/folder, pencils, and highlighters.
Students should be reading for 30 minutes per day to meet their independent reading goals. IXL study plans should be completed frequently with a goal of achieving at least 80% proficiency for the skills in the study plan modules for literary text, informational text, and vocabulary.
Absent students are responsible for following the agenda in Google Classroom and completing assignments that are posted in Google Classroom and assigned on paper in class.
