This page describes the steps that must be followed to participate in Crew at AHS
PAPERWORK
To register for Avon Crew, please complete the Athletic Department’s online process which can be accessed by clicking here.
FEES
For those new to the program, the fees to participate in Avon Crew are comprised of the following elements:
· Pay to Participate (“P2P”), $175
This fee is common to all athletic department sports at Avon High School. Payment of the fee will be handled through the online process used for all sports at AHS. (See info in the online form for more details.)
· Avon Crew Fee, $120
This fee is unique to Avon Crew. It covers some of the cost of the food items provided for athletes and families at our regattas, reduces the per person cost of our banquet, pays for the athletes' USRowing membership fee, and funds new equipment purchases, as the school district currently does not provide funding for new rowing equipment. Payments should be made payable to “Avon Booster Club” with “AHS – Crew <athlete name>” in the memo area. Please mail your $120 check to:

Alternatively, you may pay the fee via Venmo ( @ahs-boosterclub #8244 last four of cell for verification, (if needed)). Please write the word "Crew" and your athlete's name in the comments.
If this fee presents a financial burden, please contact Coach Kostal.
As noted above, completion of the online registration process and payment of the P2P fee must be completed by the start of practice (novice clinic starts on 8/18 and the first official practice is currently scheduled for August 25). Under the AHS Athletic Department policy, athletes will not be allowed to participate in this season's crew program if their paperwork and P2P fee submissions are incomplete as of the start of practice. The Avon Crew Fee must be paid before the first regatta.
UNIFORMS
· Uniform Fee
The school district will provide uniform tank tops for Crew which will be distributed before the first race and collected at the end of the season. Each rower must purchase a pair of navy blue rowing trou (spandex rowing shorts) and a long-sleeve navy blue polypro shirt to be worn under the tank top in cold weather if not already owned. These items may be purchased through the online team store until it closes.
SWIM TEST AND SWIM WAIVER
All rowers must pass a swim test comprised of:
Swimming 100 yards (using both arms and legs)
Treading water for five minutes
Demonstrated ability to put on a life preserver while in the water
Alternatively, parents may sign a waiver which stipulates that their athlete is capable of completing the aforementioned tasks.
USROWING REGISTRATION AND WAIVER PROCESS
There are two processes - one for new rowers and one for rowers who have competed for Avon in prior seasons. For the last two years, the head coach has been able to create member accounts for all new rowers and then pay their basic membership fees using information provided in the FamilyID registration process. Due to some changes in both the FamilyID and USRowing sites, we have to modify the process for new rowers.
NEW ROWER PROCESS
Before you start the process, note our Club Code which is ZCXMS.
1. Log on to http://membership.usrowing.org
2. Under the “Individuals” icon, click “Join”
3. Enter your first name, last name, DOB, gender, and email address.
4. Enter “Avon” in the “Club or Team Name” and select “Avon High School”. You will be prompted for a “Club Code”. Enter “ZCXMS” in the Club Code field and select “Submit Code”
5. Click “Search”
6. On the “Membership Level” page, select “Basic Membership” from the drop down and then click “Submit”.
7. Complete all the required demographic information on the “Profile” page and click “Submit”. Please be sure to save your login information; you will need it to complete the waiver process in the spring.
8. Complete all the require fields on the “Compliance” page, and click “Submit”
9. DO NOT SUBMIT ANY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. THE TEAM WILL PAY FOR YOUR BASIC MEMBERSHIP. IF YOU DO PAY THE MEMBERSHIP YOURSELF, THE TEAM WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REIMBURSE YOU.
PROCESS FOR ROWERS WHO JOINED PRIOR TO THIS SEASON
Rowers who have competed in prior years should log on to the USRowing membership site and check their waiver status.
1. Go to http://membership.usrowing.org
2. Click on the "Log In" drop down for Individuals.
3. You will be asked to log in using your USRowing membership number. A list of member numbers is available here.
4. On the “Membership Level” page, select “Basic Membership” from the drop down and then click “Submit”.
5. Complete all the required demographic information on the “Profile” page and click “Submit”. Please be sure to save your login information; you will need it to complete the waiver process in the spring.
6. Complete all the require fields on the “Compliance” page, and click “Submit”
