Important information for graduands
Graduation Outfit
All students are advised to dress in formal clothes for the ceremony. For gentlemen the appropriate attire is shirt and tie and for ladies a decent evening gown. Graduands have an option to choose any local traditional dress. Contact the college graduation Help Desk to confirm the dress code.
Academic Regalia
The academic dress worn by each graduate depends upon that academic level attained. It is compulsory for all graduands to wear academic Regalia. The academic Regalia consists of the gown, hood, the mortarboard and garland.
Collecting the academic Regalia
Students are reminded to collect the regalia hiring fee receipt during the collection of regalia
Date for regalia collection will be announced later.
Graduands should bring the Regalia hiring fee payment receipt, national identification
(ID card) to collection point when collecting their academic Regalia.
The College does not expect students to make applications for graduation registration and academic Regalia past the deadline.
Regalia must not be hand washed or machine washed by any circumstances.
In order to get the best fitting of the gown, graduands are advised to collect the academic Regalia personally and if a graduand is unable to collect the Regalia in person, you are required to submit an authorization letter with details of the representative assigned to collect the Regalia, where the representative must submit his/her national identification and a copy of the students identity card.
Returning the academic Regalia
All graduates must return the academic Regalia to Avid College latest by 15th of January 2023.
Regalia will be collected as following
From 27th to 31st December (Except for Friday):
Time: 1400 to 1700 Hrs
Venue: Ruby Campus
From 8th to 15th January 2023 (Except for Friday):
Time: 1400 to 1700 Hrs
Venue: Diamond Campus
Delay in returning the Regalia will be accepted with a fine payment of MVR 100/- per day.
When returning the academic Regalia student must bring the Regalia hiring/returning slip to the receiving point at Avid College. After return of the Regalia only, the refund for the Regalia deposit will be transferred to the same account where the payment was made.
Guest/family member Invitation
Each graduate will receive one invitation to participate in the ceremony.
Regalia hiring fee and refundable deposit
Refundable Deposit: MVR 1000/-
Regalia Rent Charges: MVR 1000/-
All payments must be completed and evidence of payment must be attached in request form. However the deposit amount will be refunded after the ceremony if the Regalia is returned in good condition only.
Withdrawal from graduation and Deadlines
If you wish to withdraw your application to graduate you must withdraw your application via the following email before the rehearsal date: convocation@avidcollege.edu.mv

Find time and make yourself available for rehearsal and graduation.
Convocation Rehearsal Date: 25th December 2022 (Sunday)
Rehearsal Time: 1400hrs
Venue: Dharubaaruge, K. Male'
Attire: Semi-Formal
Note: bring your regalia / cap when attending the rehearsal.
On the Convocation Day
Students and parents are required to attend the convocation ceremony on 26th December 2022 at 7:30pm and report to the convocation coordinator at the entrance.
Students must bring the student convocation card (Invitation and the barcode card).
Dress according to the dress code advised by the college. You are expected to arrive at the specified time and venue on the date mentioned in your invitation card.
Leave all your personal belongings with your guest e.g. purse, electronic gadgets, camera etc.
The graduation lineup and procession will take place with the guidance of an usher..
After Convocation
Returning of Regalia will take place in college collection points in the stipulated time period. You must bring your payment slips while returning the Regalia. The deposit amount will be refunded after the ceremony and return of Regalia.
All refundable deposits will be processed before 18th January 2023 by the Latest.
Certificates and Transcripts Collection
Before the issuance of transcripts and certificates, students are required to:

Return the academic Regalia hired for graduation.

From 8th Jan 2023 onwards certificates and transcripts can be collected from Registrars Office at Diamond Campus
Note: College will be closed from 1st Jan 2023 to 7th Jan 2023
Students are required to bring their ID Card to collect the Certificate and Transcript
Certificates and transcripts will be issued to the student only and in the event of unavailability of student, for a very specific reason the student is required to authorize a person to collect the certificate or transcript and he/she may submit the national identification of both.
FAQ
Q: How do I register for the graduation ceremony?
Students who wish to participate in the convocation ceremony, must register
themselves before the stipulated deadline.
Q: What is the last date for registration for graduation?
Graduation registration for this year has been closed.
Q: How will I know that I am registered for the ceremony?
College will confirm the registration via email and SMS
Q: How many family members or guests will be attending for each student?
Each graduand shall accompany ONE guest or parent.
Q: Can I request for extra invitees for my graduation ceremony?
No
Q: Can I participate in an upcoming graduation if I am not able to attend this time?
Yes you may.
Q: Can I withdraw my application for graduation?
Yes, but you may not receive the payments except for a refundable deposit.
Q: If I attend the graduation ceremony will I get my original certificates (degree/diploma
etc) there or would I be required to collect them at a later date?
No. Original certificates will be issued from the Registration Department at college campus. You may collect it from college at a later date.
Q: Is there a color theme for my graduation?
There is no specific color theme for students.
Q: If I have completed two programs, from which program will I be graduating?
The student will be graduating from the highest level however you will receive both the
completion certificates.
Q: Do I have to attend the convocation rehearsal, and if so how do I know when to
attend?
Yes, it is a must for all graduands to attend the convocation rehearsal, and the date and time
for rehearsal will be announced via short message and email.
Q: What is the date for returning academic regalia?
You may return the regalia within the specified dates above.
