Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

In order to graduate from high school, you must take the following classes and earn a passing grade ("D" or higher). If you are planning to apply to a 4-year college, then you must earn a "C" or better in each of these classes as well as complete the A-G requirements.
English - 40 credits
Math - 30 credits
Science - Physical - 10 credits
Science - Life - 10 credits
Healthful Living - 10 credits
Visual/Performing Art or Foreign Language - 10 credits
Civics - 5 credits
Economics - 5 credits
World History - 10 credits
U.S. History - 10 credits
Physical Education - 20 credits
Electives - 70 credits
Total credits needed to graduate: 230 credits
Attend Summer School. You may repeat up to 10 credits of a class(es) in summer school.
Senior Supplemental Instruction (SSI): Seniors may sign up for SSI with a designated teacher who will give you APEX work to complete in order to improve your grades or obtain missing credits. This option is only available for Seniors and will be assigned through your counselor.
If you are a freshman, a sophomore, or a junior, you will be advised to enroll in Summer School.
If you are 16 years old and are a second semester sophomore, a junior, or a senior, you may be referred to an alternative placement setting (R. Rex Parris or Desert Winds High Schools):
As a second semester sophomore you should have 90 credits
If you have less than 49 credits, you will be transferred to an alternative placement high school.
At the start of your junior year you should have 120 credits:
If you have less than 69 credits, you will be transferred to an alternative placement high school.
At the end of your 1st semester of your junior year, you should have 150 credits:
If you have less than 99 credits, you will be transferred to an alternative placement high school.
At the start of your senior year, you should have at least 170 credits:
If you have below 129 credits, then you will be transferred to an alternative placement high school.
The school counseling program at Virtual Academy focuses on meeting the needs of all students. In addition to seeing students individually and in classroom settings, school counselors are trained to teach skills and reinforce learning in small groups. Small groups are for all students and are intended to help strengthen and reinforce skills.
