AVID students had the opportunity to attend STEAM Day at the iconic Dodgers Stadium. After being able to walk through the different parts of this stadium, they got to enjoy a 12:10 p.m. game against the Miami Marlins. AVID students were also accompanied by other students from the Green Enterprise academy, Multilingual department, LINK Crew and Urban Scholars. This was a wonderful day filled with AVHS pride and community!
On Friday, March 20, 2026, AVID students visited Cal State Los Angeles. They received a guided tour and learned about the exciting things happening on campus. We can see future eagles at AV High School!
On Thursday, April 2, 2026, AVID students visited USC. After getting a campus tour by two awesome USC students, they explored what it would be like to FIGHT ON like Trojans. Perhaps one day they actually will!
On Friday, November 21, 2026, AVID students visited UC Santa Barbara. They toured the campus and got to explore different locations of this beautiful university. We wonder if there are any future UCSB Gauchos in our AVID classes...
On Friday, February 27, 2026, AVID students visited CSU Long Beach. They were able to tour the campus and eat at a couple of dining places. They got to see student life and future building projects. We hope to see future CSULB sharks from our AVID classes!
All AVID classes met in a collaborative classroom on campus and rotated through learning stations focused on A-G requirements, higher-level thinking, organization and TRFs. This was the perfect way to start the second semester!
AVID students will showcase and present different colleges and universities at the 8th Grade Roadshow. They assembled informational tri-folds and created a game centered on a college or university. Students also motivated the 8th graders to join AVID.
AVID students participated and competed in the schoolwide STEM Expo. From Rube Goldberg projects to Science Fiction entries, students showed their creativity and talents to judges and classmates. This was a great event that showed our students what it takes to win!
AVID students volunteered to help with Lincoln Elementary School's Who-Ville event. They helped organize, run and clean the event, and we could not be happier to see these student leaders giving back to our community.
AVID students participated in the annual Halloweentown Fall Festival on campus. There were clubs and organizations helping with trick-or-treating and fall festivities. Our students contributed to the holiday spirit by selling conchas as part of AVID Club.
AVID students talked to students about our awesome AVID program and informed them of the benefits this program offers. We love seeing our students talk about the support they've received in AVID.
