An AVID Ambassador is a student leader who represents the AVID program by promoting college readiness, leadership, and school pride. Ambassadors serve as role models for other students and help share the message of AVID with the school community, incoming students, families, and visitors. After a process of applying and interviewing, ten AVID students were selected to represent our program.

Our AVID classes have students leading discussions, solving problems together, and pushing each other to think deeper. AVID is a space where students grow into scholars and leaders. With focused support in Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading (WICOR), our students build the skills needed to succeed in high school, college, and careers. While these students work fervently on their academics, they also have opportunities to engage in fun, creative tasks in their AVID classes.
We encourage students to put the AV in AVID by being genuine leaders and scholars on campus.
Tutorials
AVID students participate in weekly Tutorials in which they work in small, collaborative groups to solve questions from their academic classes. Trained AVID tutors guide the process by asking probing questions and encouraging deeper thinking, so AVID students can build confidence, strengthen understanding, and take ownership of their learning. Click on the attachments to learn more about the Tutorial process and the Tutorial Request Form (TRF).
WICOR
Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading (WICOR) is central in the AVID elective classes. Students should experience WICOR daily in all their classes, so they can build those personal and professional habits to be successful. Below are resources that can help ALL students, regardless if they are in AVID or not, be their best student versions.

Academic Plan
Our AVID students create and regularly update a personalized academic plan that maps out their journey through high school and beyond. This plan ensures students stay on track with A–G requirements while challenging themselves with rigorous courses such as Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment. By intentionally selecting courses that prepare them for college, AVID students build the skills, confidence, and transcript strength needed to achieve their goals. Our awesome AVID counselors help students every step of the way, so they feel ready to be successful in high school and beyond!
Our AVID students have the opportunity to earn their community service hours through a partnership with Antelope Valley High School's Village. The Village is a dedicated support space on campus where students can receive guidance, encouragement, and resources to help them succeed. It provides a safe and welcoming environment focused on improving our campus culture and climate. AVID students help organize and support the donations and activities that make up the Village. AVID students are encouraged and supported throughout their high school experience. They have amazing counselors and awesome teachers that prepare them for future college and career opportunities.
