Avenues World Elements

Avenues World Elements (AWE) was developed to showcase the unique global perspective of Avenues and define the global intended curriculum for graduating students across the globe. AWE captures the essential and enduring outcomes for graduates of Avenues. For example, the first Avenues World Element is empathy: the ability to recognize, understand and experience the feelings of others. Empathy is often considered a building block of morality. Empathy may have limits on its own, but when combined with other elements like persistence, beliefs and ethics, the result can direct moral action. Empathy can also be combined with creativity, design and entrepreneurship to lead to solving problems in a more user-centered manner. In these ways, curricular elements combine to form a wide variety of programmatic molecules within Avenues’ curriculum, which form the very building blocks of the thought and behavior of an Avenues student.

Within AWE, technology does not exist on its own; instead, it is intended to be integrated into elements across the entire curriculum. Technology serves as a resource to achieve these goals while also playing an active part in their outcome.

Community Engagement

We are committed to helping students get out of their bubbles, whether socio-economic, cultural, or linguistic. Not only because it’s the right thing to do but also because young people learn and grow in extraordinary ways when they do. From nursery to 12th grade, our community engagement, social innovation and mastery programs emphasize experiential learning that allows students to forge personal connections to individuals, organizations and causes beyond the campus walls. Through these connections, we inspire students to commit to the common good and foster a desire to make a difference in the world. These deep and sustained forms of engagement are crucial in our effort to cultivate the next generation of courageous, compassionate and enterprising global citizens.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

An integral part of the Avenues mission is to graduate students who are at ease beyond their borders. We often think of borders from a geographical lens. Still, they can be viewed by race, social-economic status, physical ability, language, etc. With the spirit of empathy and authentic listening, our students will develop the cultural competencies to connect across these borders, respect and celebrate differences. Aligned with our commitment to Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI), we work to nurture a school culture where each person is trusted, valued and appreciated in our community for the diverse identities they represent. The DEI strategy is anchored by five key pillars: attract mission-aligned families, achieve operational excellence, develop an inclusive curriculum, develop our staff and use empowering language in our DEI conversations. At Avenues São Paulo, we have the DEI Institutional Team and DEI Academic Team, leading decision-making strategies to ensure that we are growing towards an expanding diverse community of students, parents, faculty and staff.

Global Journeys

Global Journeys allow students to experience the world from a new perspective, immerse themselves in another culture and further their language skills through authentic international community engagement. The program empowers Avenues students through innovative, cross-cultural experiences to develop the essential skills and capacities needed to understand and address global challenges.

Our Kitchen

The return to in-person learning has demanded adaptability in many aspects of our school life, including how we serve lunch and snacks to more than 1,000 students and colleagues every day. We invite you to know our kitchen and learn how we have transformed our food operations to ensure everyone stays safe while eating healthy, balanced, and delicious meals.

Due to our health, hygiene, and sustainability standards, the hard work of 50 kitchen staff members and continuous collaboration with the parent community to improve our processes, we have been awarded the Green Kitchen seal!

In our mission to prepare students for the future, technology is a powerful tool for us at Avenues. Across our campuses, we apply technology to foster independent learning and skills that will be valuable for students wherever they decide to go in life. As a school focused on innovation and research, we ensure that our campuses stay on the cutting edge of technology.
