Thursday, Nov. 5: Beginning Band Performance

The first Beginning Band performance of the school year is coming up soon! This will be a very memorable event, so please make plans to attend. On Thursday, November 5, all Beginning Band members from O. Henry and Clint Small will combine to perform with the Austin High Maroon Band at the new Austin HS practice field. Students will wear their red O. Henry Band T-shirt (a long-sleeve shirt may be worn underneath for warmth) with blue or black long pants or jeans.

Students may choose to stay after school for pizza from 3:50 PM to 5:15 PM and then ride an AISD bus from O. Henry to Austin High School. Please return the attached permission forms (3 pages) by Friday, October 23, to ensure we have an accurate headcount for our pizza order. If possible,  please submit forms back via email. Hard copies of this email and the attached permission forms will also be available for students to pick up in class tomorrow.

Should you wish to contribute a $5 donation to assist with the costs of pizza and bus transportation, it would be greatly appreciated. Contributions may be submitted via this Band Donation Link.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities: Thursday, Nov 5, 2026
We are seeking parent volunteers to help our event run smoothly. Please let me know if you can assist with any of the following:
* Pizza Servers: 1–2 volunteers to serve pizza after school at the OHMS Band Hall (4- 4:30 PM)
* Bus Chaperones: 1–2 volunteers to accompany us on our bus trip to Austin High (5:15 - 7:15 PM)

Schedule for Nov. 5

3:50 PM            Band students report directly to the OHMS Band Hall in uniform

4:15- 5:30 PM   Pizza & Study Hall in the Band Hall

5:45 PM            Load Buses/Depart for Austin HS Practice Field

6:15 PM            Arrive at Austin HS Practice Field- Line up by sections

6:45 PM            Austin HS run-through of their marching show. 

6:55 PM            Beginners enter the field in front of the Austin High Band.     Shortly after we play, Austin HS Blues! (standing still)

7:00 PM            Beginners go to sections for show and tell

7:15 PM            Parents pick up students; bus returns to O.Henry

Monday, December 7: Winter Concert - 6:30 PM

We invite you to join us for our Winter Band Concert on Monday, December 7, at 6:30 PM in the O. Henry Main Gym. All band students will be performing, and we look forward to sharing some festive music to kick off the winter season. Please note that the required attire for all students is their formal band uniform.
