7th/8th Grade Wind Ensemble & Symphonic Band September Events:

Tuesday, September 15 – AISD Marching Band Jamboree (Optional Event)

• • Time & Location: 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM at Burger Stadium

  • Details: We will sit in the stands and watch AISD high school bands perform. We will stay after school and take a one way bus from OHMS to Burger Stadium.

Friday, September 18 – Austin HS Vertical Team Band Night (Required) 

• • Time & Location: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at House Park

  • Details: Students will perform in the stands during the Austin High School football game. We will stay after school for pizza and take a one-way bus from OHMS to House Park. Families are welcome to pick up their students after watching the halftime show.

Wednesday, September 23: OHMS Homecoming Game at House Park (Required)

• • Time & Location: 6:00 PM – approx. 8:30 PM, House Park

Details: Members of the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will play stand tunes during the 7th and 8th grade "A" team football games. We will stay after school for pizza and take a one-way bus from OHMS to House Park. Note: 8th Grade "A" Team football players are exempt from this performance. 

Friday, September 25 - O.Henry Round-UP at OHMS (Required) 

• Time & Location: 3:30 – 4:15 PM at O.Henry

• Details: Students will perform pep music on the front lawn of the school.                                                                                                                                    

Transportation,  Logistics  & Food Details

• Bus Transportation: For events on September 15, 18, and 23, students may stay after school and ride an AISD bus to the stadium. Students staying after school will be supervised in the band hall from 4:00 until the buses leave at 5:15 PM. Please note that buses will not return to O.Henry, so parents/guardians must pick up their child directly from the stadium.

• Permission Forms & Pizza Donations: Pizza will be provided after school on all three field trip days. To help cover pizza costs for all September events, we are requesting a  $10 donation per student. You can donate online at https://ohenry.myschoolcentral.com or send cash/check in an envelope labeled with your child’s name.  In addition, please complete and return the attached permission form. We need all permission forms and pizza donations by Tuesday, September 8.

• Water Bottles: Students must bring a refillable water bottle to all 3 field trips. We will bring a large Igloo cooler so students can refill as needed.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities

We are seeking parent volunteers to help our events run smoothly! Please let us know if you can assist with any of the following:

• Pizza Servers: 1–2 volunteers to serve pizza after school at OHMS on 9/15, 9/18, and 9/23.

• Bus Chaperones: 1 volunteer to accompany us on the one-way bus trip to the stadium on 9/18 and 9/23.

• Equipment & Water Transport: 1–2 volunteers with a pickup truck or large SUV to transport large instruments and our water cooler to the OHMS game on 9/23.

• Water Refill Helpers: 1–2 volunteers to assist with refilling the water cooler at House Park on 9/23
