FAQ

1. KEY THINGS TO KNOW

• BLEND is our district's version of Canvas LMS(Links to an external site), a tool that the University of Texas and other K-12 districts, colleges, and universities around the country are using to support instruction. This is why BLEND email/text notifications say "Canvas."

• Teachers are still getting comfortable with BLEND and are using it to varying degrees.

• ALL Parents/Guardians have "Observer" access to BLEND. This means that when they click on BLEND through the portal or download and set up the Canvas mobile app, they will automatically be able to view any published content for their child's courses.

• Parents will ONLY be able to see individual responses and teacher feedback for their child, not for the entire class.

• TEAMS is still the grade book of record. Parents should still access overall course grades through Self Serve, but if a teacher is using BLEND to grade individual assignments, parents can view those assignment grades in BLEND.

• Every student at O Henry MS should have access to a personal computer to access daily for remote learning. This may be a personal laptop or a district issued Chromebook.

• Don't have a Chromebook?

  • Contact the OHMS Office at 512-414-3229 to set up a time to pick up a device

• Still need a hotspot?

  • You should have updated your Technology Distribution survey (an OHMS staff member may have done this for you).

  • You will get an email when it is ready to pick up from the OHMS office.

  • Only 1 hotspot allowed per family in the AISD district

Is there a way for my student to continue to receive breakfast and lunch?

• AustinISD Meals Locations - If your students are in need of meals, AISD has sites where meals can be collected for breakfast and lunch.

• How will my student receive grades?

  • Grades on new assignments will be updated weekly through BLEND. Students should be checking for comments on their discussion and assignment submissions (only in BLEND).

  • However, the TEAMS app is where final grades should be viewed and kept track of

How do I get in touch with my student's teacher?

• Please email your student's teacher directly. A list is found on our Contact Page

• Look on their BLEND page for possible Office Hours.
