In Kindergarten through 2nd grade, students will explore the fundamentals of music through singing, movement, playing instruments, and listening activities. We’ll cover rhythm, melody, dynamics, and tempo, as well as learning about different musical instruments and styles. Through the use of the Kodaly method of teaching and singing songs familiar to most students, the lessons are designed to be engaging, hands-on, and fun.
Students will have the opportunity to play classroom instruments such as xylophones, drums, tambourines, egg shakers, rhythm sticks, and more. All instruments are provided by the school.
Yes! Each grade level will have at least one performance during the school year. These events are a celebration of your child’s learning and are a wonderful opportunity for them to share their music with family and friends. Dates and details will be posted on this website and shared via school communication channels.
The best way is to check this website regularly for updates, song lists, photos, and performance details. We also send reminders through school announcements and newsletters.
Mrs. Wohleb is the music teacher for grades 3-5 and is really excited to get to know your kids this year. She can’t wait to see what they bring to the classroom and is looking forward to having fun with them as they explore music together!
