Checkpoint 1: Phase I & II reflection and rubric - DUE MARCH 10!
If you have further questions about supporting an organization, sometimes the best thing to do is contact them directly. Here are some VERY IMPORTANT tips on how to do so:
Go to the organization's website and find a "contact us" section. Sometimes they'll have a built in messaging system. Other times it will provide an email to contact. I need to get confirmation on whether the AISD Gmail system will allow you to email someone outside of district.
If you're writing an email, it must be professional. The way this is written is a reflection of you, Murchison, and the IB program, so it needs to be done well. Here are some ideas of how to compose it:
Start with a greeting. If there's a name for the contact you can address them directly, such as "Dear Susan,". If not, use "To whom it may concern,"
Introduce yourself and explain the purpose of your email. State your first name (as a minor, please do not use your full name) and that you're working on a service project as part of the International Baccalaureate program at your school (again, for privacy reasons, you do not need to include "Murchison").
Ask clear questions related to your project and what you need to know. Keep it simple.
Finish with thanking them for their time, include a professional closing, and sign your name.
Example:
To whom it may concern,
We communicated about my interest in supporting Wildlife Rescue of Central Texas. Thank you for providing ideas on how I can support.
I have a question about the blankets you said I could make for the animals. Is there a certain fabric that you recommend? I want to make sure I choose something both comfortable and durable.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Megan
