Summer projects for 2025-2026 are ready below!
Our vision is for Lively students to be active, socially engaged citizens who use their gifts and talents to make their communities and the world a better place. For your summer project, you will participate in activities of your choice and then write an essay to reflect on your summer of learning!
Instructions:
Make a copy of the Google slides, and enter your information digitally OR print it and handwrite your responses.
Due the first week of classes to your Magnet ELAR teacher.
This summer, we are frontloading our students' literacy skills to ensure we can hit the ground running when they begin 7th grade! To do this, we will need the help of parents and guardians. For this project, Magnet students are expected to read and review at least five books over the summer and make a presentation on their favorite! Parents will have to sign off on each book review. Click the links below for more information!
Instructions:
Review the Summer project instructions. Then, make a copy of the Summer Reading Log to complete your project.
Due the first day of class to your Magnet ELAR teacher.

For your final year in middle school, you will be working on a year-long project including conducting an interview, attending community service, composing a research paper, creating an art project, and surveying your community! This summer project is designed to help you find a focus for your yearlong Capstone research project.
The Capstone Project ends with the Capstone Fair, in which you will present your findings to families and students. To celebrate, all Capstone students are treated to a Capstone Awards Banquet in which awards and certificates are presented.
Instructions:
Make a copy of the Canva presentation by clicking the link, then clicking "file > make a copy" in Canva. Then, go through each slide to engage in the summer research portion of your Capstone project.
This summer project is the building block for the yearlong Capstone research process.
Due the first week of classes to your Magnet ELAR teacher.
*NOTE: Paper copies are available; however, the best learning experience for this project is on a laptop, tablet, or Chromebook. ELAR teachers and Lively's front office will have paper copies available.
All current 7th-grade magnet students will be introduced to the 8th-grade Capstone project at school. Our 8th-grade ELAR teachers, Mr. Addington and Ms. Mau, will present the project details and answer student questions during an Advisory assembly.
All current 7th-grade Magnet families are invited to our virtual Capstone information session on Tuesday, May 13th, from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. We will answer questions and review the process for the yearlong 8th-grade Capstone project.
