Dyslexia Interventionist and Literacy Expert
Ms. Adley is a Certified Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist (C-SLDI) with extensive training in evidence-based reading instruction. She holds a Master’s degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor’s degree in English from Texas A&M University. Ms. Adley has experience teaching secondary English Language Arts, general education reading intervention for at-risk students, and currently specializes in dyslexia intervention within special education. Her work focuses on delivering explicit, systematic Structured Literacy instruction, including basic reading and advanced comprehension while using data-driven assessment and progress monitoring to meet individual student needs. Ms. Adley finds joy in helping students build confidence and independence as readers by giving them the tools to decode and understand texts successfully.

Kiki Esquivel is an experienced educator with 25 years of teaching. She has worked as a bilingual teacher and a dual language teacher. She is proud to be bicultural, biliterate and bilingual and uses this to connect with second language learners. She has a capacity for adaptability and is committed to supporting student growth and instilling a love for reading. She began her career teaching elementary grades K–5, where she built a strong foundation in early learning, classroom community and building relationships.
She later transitioned to middle school to focus on special education, working with diverse learners and providing individualized support. She aspires to grow in her own professional development to reach as many students as possible. Her experience across grade levels allows her to effectively connect foundational skills with the demands of middle school. Kiki wants to see students reach their full potential.

7th Grade Special Education Inclusion & Specialized Instruction
Ray Chretien is a dedicated educator with over 15 years of teaching experience and a strong commitment to supporting all learners. He currently serves as a Special Education Inclusion Teacher for 7th and 8th grade ELA team at Lively Middle School in Austin, Texas, where he helps students with diverse learning needs succeed in the general education classroom.
Mr. Chretien has taught multiple elementary grade levels and now brings that experience to the middle school setting. He focuses on helping students build confidence, overcome challenges, and take meaningful risks in their learning. Through differentiated instruction, small group support, and data-driven practices, he meets students where they are and supports their growth. He is a graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Outside the classroom, Mr. Chretien enjoys gardening, cooking, paddle boarding, and watching soccer. He values time with family and friends and loves exploring new places.

I'm Soraya Haghighatian, a 6th-grade teacher in my second year of teaching. I earned my undergraduate degree in Education from Texas Tech University, where I began my teaching journey. In my classroom, I emphasize structure, compassion, and creating a love for reading and writing. Outside of school, I enjoy listening to music and spending time thrifting and antiquing. I’m excited to work with my students and help them grow this year!

Mr. Van Genderen is an enthusiastic English teacher with 5 years of experience in the classroom, teaching both high school and middle school. Originally from New Jersey, Mr. Van Genderen received a Masters in English Education from Rutgers University, as well as a Certificate in Creative Writing and a Minor in Medieval Studies. He is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.

Mr. Benson got his start in Science but found real belonging in the ELAR department. He holds a Bachelors in Microbiology from the University of Idaho and, as a counterbalance, has spent more than three years working in independent book stores in Idaho and Washington. In the classroom, he prioritizes teaching diverse contemporary voices in furtherance of helping students develop lifelong habits of reading and writing.

Mr. Zimmerman is a dedicated middle school English Language Arts educator with five years of experience, and serves as Lively’s ELAR Department Chair. Mr. Zimmerman earned his Bachelors in Secondary Education from Temple University, located in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Zimmerman inspires students through dynamic lessons that foster critical thinking, creativity, and a love for literature. He cultivates an inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and empowered to express themselves through the written and spoken word, laying a strong foundation for their academic and personal growth.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Addington is an amateur 3D printing hobbyist, showcasing his innovative and creative side. His dual roles highlight his commitment to academic excellence and fostering well-rounded interests among students.
