Cecilia Calvelo is a passionate music educator and the Orchestra Director at Lively Middle School. Currently in her 27th year of teaching, she has taught music at all levels, Elementary, Middle and High School, in Houston ISD, Katy ISD, San Francisco Unified School District (San Francisco, CA) and abroad in Argentina and Spain.
Ms. Calvelo is a graduate of the University of Houston, where she received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, and a Masters Degree in Music History from San Francisco State University. She has done extensive String Pedagogy training, and is an active member of ASTA (American String Teachers Association), TMEA (TX Music Educators Association), TODA (TX Orchestra Directors Association), and the SAA (Suzuki Association of the Americas). She is also a Suzuki Violin teacher, and for many years was a Suzuki parent to her two children, who played Suzuki cello and violin. Her son graduated from Columbia University in May 2025, and her daughter is a Sophomore at UCONN.
Ms. Calvelo is a curious person who is always learning new things, she speaks four languages, loves to travel, and plans on making music for years to come 😌
