The Lively MS Orchestra is a well-established fine arts program in AISD and one of the oldest orchestra programs in our district, dating back to 1937. The program offers students the opportunity to learn to play the violin, viola, cello or double bass. Students who are part of this program perform multiple times a year on stages inside and outside the school. We offer three levels of instruction: Orchestra I for Beginners, Orchestra II for Intermediate players, and Orchestra III for Advanced players. Every Spring, Advanced (Varsity) and Intermediate (Junior Varsity) ensembles participate in UIL. Our students also take part of All City Orchestra, All Region Orchestra, and UIL Solo & Ensemble every Spring. Lively MS is a 2C school and is part of Region 18. At Lively, we play all kinds of music and have fun learning not only the music, but also about the history and culture where the pieces come from. Please reach out to Ms. Calvelo if you are interested in joining orchestra, or if you'd like to set up a meeting to select an instrument for next year.
Sectionals: These after school rehearsals are essential to our learning, and we need them to get ready for our concerts and performances. All Sectionals will be at school, from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm. We will start with sectionals for Advanced and Intermediate Orchestras the first week of September, on TUE and WED respectively. Beginners will only have sectionals 2 or 3 weeks before their concerts, on Thursday afternoons. More to come on this subject during "Back to School Night"!
