Book #1 Storyboard Project:
Incoming 7th Grade Magnet Storyboard Project
Learning Targets:
In response to their summer reading novel, students will be able to:
Summarize the novel and the chronological order of events.
Identify the story’s central idea (message, lesson, moral, or main point conveyed throughout the story)
Clearly explain the development of the story’s conflicts and characters.
Project Instructions:
Using the template provided or your own format, create a storyboard including 6 significant moments/events that take place in the novel.
For each portion of the storyboard, include:
A detailed, colorful illustration of the significant moment/event.
A quote from and a brief description of the moment/event.
On a separate piece of paper, complete the following steps: (This can be typed or handwritten.)
Write a thorough summary of each section of the story illustrated. (4-6 sentences for each of the 6 moments/events)
An explanation of how conflicts develop. (4-7 sentences)
An explanation of how the main character(s) develop. (4-7 sentences)
An identification of a central idea/theme and the point at which it is revealed. (2-4 sentences)
Hint: One way to identify the central idea/theme is to complete this sentence: "The author believes that__________________________."
Whatever you write in the blank is likely the author's overall message or central idea for the book!
What is a storyboard?
A storyboard is a visual representation of the main plot points of a story, typically used for films and television shows! Each part of the storyboard shows a different scene or event from a story, accompanied by an explanation of what that scene or event is about.
