Gifted and Talented

The Joslin Librarian, Mrs. Gibbs, is the Gifted and Talented (GT) teacher and advocate. Students who are part of the GT program are taught in a cluster grouping model following a GT Learning Plan. The GT curriculum includes enrichment opportunities that provide depth and complexity through exploration, extension, and elaboration.

Kindergarteners  are researching the seven continents.

First graders are researching the planets.

Second graders are learning about animal adaptations.  They will create their own animal using three adaptations they have learned.

Third graders that qualified for GT/TE before the fall of 2022 have been participating in Lego Robotics.  If your child just qualified for GT in December 2022, they will be working with me doing various projects.

Fourth and fifth graders just started the quilting project.  They are reading The Patchwork Quilt by Valerie Flournoy.  They will design their own quilt top and sew a pillow using that design.  I am excited to see what they come up with!
