The thing I love about these challenges is that the kids first thought is-You are crazy! This is not possible!!
And, yet, it is! And it shows them so much about how to just keep trying.
For this challenge, I have pre-cut 2 strips of paper. Students make one strip into a circle, adhere with tape. Then they loop the 2nd strip into the first to make a chain link. They then tape those 2 circles together so they do not move around. Modeling this part is really important. You would be surprised how kids think to tape these 2 circles together...
Now that their 2 circles are set in place, here's the challenge:
CUT THESE 2 CIRCLES SO THAT IT MAKES ONE SQUARE.
