Texas Bluebonnet Award

3rd - 5th Grade students are invited to participate in Texas Library Association's Bluebonnet Reading Challenge! Each year, 20 books are selected as Bluebonnet Award Nominees. Students who read at least 5 books from the list are eligible to vote for a winner in January! The Cowan Library will have a Bluebonnet Breakfast celebration later in the spring to announce the statewide award winner (voted on ONLY by kids!) as well as the winner of the Cowan Bluebonnet award. 2x2 Reading List

The 2x2 Reading List was created by the Texas Library Association to give parents, caregivers, and educators a curated list of quality books for young children. Each year, 20 stand-out picture books are selected for the list. These are all great reads and we will have all of them available in the library! Students will receive a coloring sheet to track which books they've read. They can turn it in at the end of the year to get a fun library surprise!
