Micaela Campos was born and raised right here in Austin, Texas, and has been passionate about choir since high school. She attended Hutto High School, where she was an active member of both the choir and theatre programs. During her time there, she was a member of the Varsity Women’s Choir, performed in all of the school’s musicals, and participated in UIL and Solo & Ensemble competitions every year. Her ensembles consistently earned Sweepstakes awards at UIL, she received Superior ratings for all of her solo performances, and received a rare Outstanding Performer award her Junior year.
In her senior year, Ms. Campos earned a spot in the prestigious TMEA All-State Choir, the highest honor a Texas high school choir student can achieve.
Ms. Campos went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Choral Music Education from the University of North Texas in 2019. While at UNT, she sang in several university ensembles, including the University Singers, Women’s Chorale, and the Director’s Chorus.
Ms. Campos was previously the Music Specialist at Mathews Elementary in Austin, Texas where she attended as a child. Ms. Campos is so excited to continue her teaching journey as the Choir Director at Covington Middle School. This will be Ms. Campos' 7th year teaching and 1st year at the Middle School level.
In her spare time, Ms. Campos enjoys singing karaoke with friends, going to the movies, trying new foods, cooking, kayaking, and spending quality time with her dog, Kiki!
