Go Sailors!
We’re excited to celebrate Red Ribbon Week—a time to promote healthy, safe, and drug-free choices. This year’s theme encourages students to see that every healthy choice adds an important piece to the puzzle of their future.
Daily Themes
Day 1: Healthy Choices
Day 2: Fentanyl Awareness
Day 3: Alcohol Awareness
Day 4: Vaping & E-Cigarettes
Day 5: Goals for the Future
As a parent or caregiver, you are one of the most powerful influences in your child’s life.
Research shows that teens who talk regularly with their parents about the risks of drugs and alcohol are 42% less likely to use substances—yet only about a quarter report having these conversations.
We encourage you to:
Discuss your expectations about avoiding drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.
Talk about the dangers of vaping—a growing concern among Central Texas youth.
Review warning signs of substance misuse with your child.
Safely dispose of unused prescription medications (many local Walgreens and CVS stores have “take back” programs).
Helpful Resource:
Check out this Parent Tip Sheet from the U.S. Surgeon General for conversation starters, signs of use, and strategies for supporting your child.
Your school counselors are always here to help with resources, guidance, and care.
Together, we can keep our students healthy, safe, and empowered.
With appreciation,
Burnet MS Counseling Department
Subject: Student Badge Expectations
Please remind students that badges must be worn every day, all day.
If a student does not have a badge, please provide them with a temporary name tag for the day.
Purpose of Badges:
Student badges help us easily identify students on campus and assist substitutes in verifying class rosters.
Any student found in a class not listed on their schedule will be considered skipping.
Additional Information:
Labels for students who enrolled late and have not received a paper badge will be placed in your boxes.
The school has purchased a badge maker for permanent replacements.
We are currently creating badges for students who did not take a school picture.
Students who lost their badge will need to pay $3 for a replacement.
Students who forget their badge will receive lunch detention for that day.
Thank you for your support in reinforcing this system and helping us maintain a safe, organized campus.
Burnet Middle School Halloween Costume Guidelines
Let’s celebrate safely and keep learning fun!
To ensure everyone enjoys the day while keeping our focus on learning, please follow these costume rules:
Allowed:
School-appropriate costumes that follow the dress code
Comfortable outfits that allow you to participate in all classes and activities
Not Allowed:
Masks or full-face coverings
Fake weapons (including toy swords, guns, knives, or props that resemble weapons)
Inflatable costumes
Costumes that distract from instruction or disrupt the school day
Students who arrive in costumes that do not meet these expectations will be asked to change into regular school clothing.
Let’s make it a fun and safe celebration for everyone—we can’t wait to see your creativity!
