5.3

Student Contributions

Indicator Overview

Students feel belonging (connection) and significance (capable) when they have opportunities to contribute. Students contribute to the learning environment by sharing their opinions/ideas and valuing the contributions of their peers.

One of the most powerful ways to impact achievement is to actively engage students in the life of the classroom. Prioritizing student voice strengthens a sense of belonging, as the learning experiences are co-created by students and teachers. When students know what they have to say is valued, they’re more likely to share their thoughts and insights.
