The focus of this module is to prepare you to teach HB5 Math College Preparatory classes.

When you have completed this module, you will be able to achieve the following learning outcomes:
Report student achievement via the ACC student achievement system (StARS).
Create and submit a lesson plan.
Use evidence-based instructional strategies to create and submit a syllabus for math course that fulfills the HB5 and ACC partnership requirements.

Syllabus
Why a Syllabus?
A syllabus is a contract between you and your students. The students agree to the contract when they enroll in a course. The syllabus should provide clear terms to the student of the course expectations.
These are some key parts of a syllabus:
Title of the course/course number
Location/time of the course
Name of the instructor/Office location/Office hours/Office phone/School e-mail
Required text/materials
Catalog description of course/perquisites (if any)
Course objectives/learning outcomes
Attendance policy
Late work policy
Grading scale
Assignments with points possible or % grade weight
Calendar of assignments with due dates
Message from instructor
Disclaimer stating that this is a plan for the semester that might change as class needs develop
Depending on the course, other items that could be included. If the course is an English composition course or if the course has writing requirements, plagiarism and the consequences of plagiarism should be addressed. In an online course, the minimum number of discussion post and responses per student per week needs to be stated in the syllabus.
