Learn GIS

Take our GEOG 2470 Intro to GIS and GISC 2420 Intermediate GIS courses and master basic geospatial concepts and analyses using ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop. Apply credit from these courses toward a GIS Certificate or Degree. Approximately $350 per course for students with in-district residency.

GIS Level I Certificate

Complete our 1-year workforce certificate designed for:

  • New students seeking skills they need for an entry level GIS Tech job; or
  • Existing GIS professionals seeking to update or expand their skills

GIS Level I Courses:

  1. GEOG 2470 Intro to GIS
  2. GISC 2420 Intermediate GIS
  3. GISC 1491 Intro to Map Design and Use
  4. ITSW 1307 Intro to Database
  5. GISC 2401 Data Acquisition and Analysis
  6. GIS Capstone

Approximately $1,700 for students with in-district residency.

GIS Level II Certificate

Complete our 2-year workforce certificate designed for:

  • New students seeking skills they need for an entry level GIS Analyst job; or
  • Existing GIS professionals seeking to update or expand their skills

All GIS Level I Courses, plus these GIS Level II Courses:

  2. GISC 2231 Advanced Problems in GIS
  3. GIS Specialization1
  4. GIS Specialization1

Approximately $3,400 for students with in-district residency.

Associate of Applied Science

Complete our 2-year workforce degree designed for:

  • New students seeking skills they need for an entry level GIS job; and
  • Wanting to transfer 30% of their course credit to a 4-year public college or university in Texas

All GIS Level I and Level II Courses, plus these Core Curriculum Courses:

  1. ENGL 1301 English Composition I
  2. GEOG 1301 Introduction to Physical Geography
  3. ENGL 2311 Technical and Business Writing
  4. Social and Behavioral Science Elective
  5. Math Elective
