In this workshop we will explore social, cognitive, and instructor presence as it relates to student engagement. We will learn about the three different types of interactions in the distance learning environment and how we can strive to create a Community of Inquiry in our distance learning courses. Attendees will learn practical tips that they can incorporate right away into their courses to make them more engaging.

They say the best way to learn a new language is through immersion, but what if you're living in a community without the opportunity to experience immersion? The presenter will describe her experiences teaching English as a Second Language in an online school that met in Second Life. Students experienced living in an "English city" and practiced their listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a project-based, collaborative, wholistic approach to language learning.

Learn how to use your iPad's built in "Accessibility" Tools.
We will give a brief introduction and share perspective on Accessibility, and then demonstrate various tools in the iPad that that focus on the four disability categories: Visual, Auditory, Motor, and Cognitive.
