Dr. Gaye Lynn Scott started her career at ACC in Fall 1987 as an adjunct faculty member in the Government Department. Since then, she has been a full-time faculty member, served as the Government Department Chair and then the Dean of Social & Behavioral Sciences, and is currently the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Programs. She is an advocate for excellence in teaching and learning that supports equitable student success, and for innovative programs that contribute to success for all our students.
In recent years Dr. Scott has led the successful development of Z Degrees (zero textbook costs) – work that earned ACC the 2019 Star Award from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. She also leads ACC’s efforts to embed equity-mindedness in our faculty hiring, and is currently serving as part of ACC’s RELA team (Racial Equity Leadership Academy) working to reduce inequities in withdrawal rates in high enrollment gateway courses. She is active in her church, a lifelong baseball fan, and an accomplished pianist.
