1. List the major characteristics of animals.

2. Discuss the early evolution of animals.

3. Describe the anatomical features of a member of porifera.

4. Recognize and identify members of the different Classes of sponges and their characteristics.

5. Identify different sponge body plans using the genera Leucosolenia and Grantia (Scypha) as examples.

6. Describe the characteristics of the clade Radiata (the Cnidarians).

7. Recognize and identify different phyla of cnidarians and their characteristics.

8. Recognize and identify the major anatomical features of a cnidarian using the genera Hydra, Obelia and Aurelia as examples.

9. Recognize and identify the major life cycle features of cnidarians using the genera Obelia and Aurelia as examples.

10. Identify the features and function(s) of a Cnidocyte.

11. Recognize and identify the features of Ctenophores.
