Reflection is what brings together your course content and your community engagement experience. Being a volunteer and serving the community is great, but service alone is not what a service-learning course is all about. Your instructor wants you to apply the content you’re learning in the course to your experience in the community and to reflect on the ways that connection happens.
Your instructor will let you know what type of reflection assignments you’ll be required to submit in this course.
Here are a few questions you might want to consider:
What you have learned about yourself as a result of your service?
What have you learned about your community?
What values, opinions, beliefs have changed?
What was the most important lesson learned?
Do you have a different picture of your community than you had before you began your project?
What learning occurred for you in this experience? How can you apply this learning?
If you could do the project again, what would you do differently?
Did you encounter someone in the community who made a strong impression on you, positive or negative?
