Overview
Purpose
The purpose of the Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) program is to reduce youth tobacco use by helping young people grades 6-12 make healthful tobacco-related decisions through tobacco-specific educational instruction and activities that build knowledge as well as social skills and youth development assets.
Objectives
The Alhambra Unified School District TUPE program is funded through a three year (2023-2026) grant awarded by the LA County Office of Education (LACOE) and the California Department of Education (CDE). Our program utilizes Tier I AND Tier II intervention and prevention strategies.
Specific program objectives include:
Student Services - assemblies, guest speakers, instruction, intervention and cessation resources
Parent Engagement - parent information and interactive parent meetings
Professional Development - customized training for school staff, teachers and administrators
Interagency Development - collaboration with community-based partners to support program goals
