Arcadia High School Graduation Requirements
225 Credits (1 semester class = 5 credits)
4 yrs. English (40 credits)
3 yrs. History/Social Science (30 credits)
2 semesters of Modern World History
2 semesters of U.S. History
1 semester Government
1 semester Economics
2 yrs. Science (20 credits)
Must include at least 5 credits of a biological science and at least 5 credits of a physical science and 10 additional credits of either a biological science or a physical science.
2 yrs. Math (20 credits)
2 yrs. P.E. (20 credits)
4 semesters of Marching Band can be used to fulfill this requirement.
Participation in Sports Teams, Dance, Dance Prop Production, or Pep Squad fulfills this requirement.
1 yr. Fine Arts or World Language (10 credits)

Grades and Credit
“D” grades = 5 credits
“D” grades will count for high school graduation
“D” grades will not count for college admission
“F” grades = 0 credits
*You must make up required courses if you fail*
D/F grades affect eligibility and qualifying for future courses
Grades are never removed from a transcript once they have been posted.
Students may remediate a D or F grade by repeating the class. The D or F grade is not removed from the transcript.
If the repeat class is the exact same class in which the D or F was earned, only the higher grade is used to calculate the GPA.
If the repeat class is not the exact same class, both grades are used to calculate the GPA.
Students do not get duplicate credit for repeating courses in which they earned a D grade.
Rising “C” Rule
Applies to Math and World Language only
If a “D” grade is earned 1st semester, a “B” grade MUST be earned 2nd semester to move onto the next level of Math or World Language.
Drop an AP or Honors course: NOT ALLOWED
Drop a year-long non-honors/AP academic course for 5.0 credit Teacher Aide both semesters (IF TA position is available) : Only 11th and 12th Grade Students may drop.
Drop semester elective for a 5.0 credit Teacher Aide assignment (IF TA position is available: Only 12th Grade Students may drop.
Drop an AP or Honors course for a level change to a non-honors/AP course: All Grade Levels may drop.
Drop a year-long academic course for 5.0 credit Teacher Aide Assignment (IF TA position is available): All Grade Levels may drop.
Drop semester elective for a 5.0 credit TA (IF TA position is available): Only 12th Grade Students may drop.
CSU/UC Admission Requirements
a) 2 years of Social Science
b) 4 years of English
c) 3 years of Math including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 (4 years are recommended)
d) 2 years of Lab Science including 1 Biological Science, 1 Physical Science (UC recommends 3 years)
e) 2 years of the same Language other than English (UC recommends 3 years)
f) 1 year of Visual and Performing Arts
g) 1 year of UC approved electives
“C” grades or higher required in above courses
UC requires 11 of the 15 a-g courses to be completed by the end of junior year
CSU will temporarily suspend the use of ACT/SAT examinations in determining admission eligibility for all CSU campuses for the 2021-2022 academic year.
California residents and graduates of California high schools will be eligible for admission by earning a 2.50 or greater “a-g” GPA.
Any California high school graduate or resident of California earning a GPA between 2.00 and 2.49 may be evaluated for admission based upon supplemental factors such as number of courses exceeding minimum “a-g” requirements, household income, extracurricular involvement, and other available information that would inform the campus admission decision. Each CSU campus will determine the supplemental factors used with GPA to determine eligibility in these cases and communicate these criteria publicly for prospective students.

· 2 years Natural/Physical Science (one year of lab)
· 1 year additional English, Math or Natural/Physical Science
· 2 years Social Science
· 4 years additional courses (any area above or world language, philosophy, or comparative religion)
Additionally:
Earn a minimum GPA of 2.3 in core classes for Division 1 or 2.2 GPA for Division II
Earn an ACT or SAT score that meets the sliding scale guidelines (scale available on NCAA website)
Must complete 10 of the 16 core courses by the beginning of senior year
7 of the 10 courses must be completed in English, math and science
Requirements are different for current seniors.
