I began learning French in 7th grade with no Family or friends who spoke French.
I spent my 3rd year of college studying in France
This is my 30th year teaching. I LOVE teaching… French, and culture, life lessons, organization, trust, responsibility, integrity, and respect.
I am available - if you don’t ask, I can’t help.
In 2008-09, I did a Fulbright Teacher Exchange teaching English in Trévoux, just outside Lyon. We now have a yearly exchange program - hosting and traveling.
I was born and raised in a small subsurb south east of paris, about 20 minutes outside of Paris.
I went to law school in France and received a master degree in Law from the University of Paris II.
I moved to California because my husband is American and I went back to school about 15 years ago.
I recevied a mater degree in Education from APU. I love being a teacher.
Outside of school, I like to cook French food and play the piano.
Every year since Madame Vaughan did a Fulbright teacher exchange in France in 2008-09, a group of French students comes to Arcadia each February with 2 of their teachers. They are hosted by AHS French students. They attend school, bonding events, and field trips as they discover Los Angeles. Over spring break, AHS students travel to France and are hosted by these same students. We are all grateful to AUSD for allowing this reciprocal exchange to continue.
Email Madame Vaughan if you are intested in participating in this exchange as a traveler or as a Host Family in the future!
The Grand Concours is a Level-Based multiple-choice French test that all students in the French Program take every year. It's an online test with listening, vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension sections.
Typically, 60-80% of our students rank NATIONALLY in the top 20% of the country. They earn a medal, and then they can write this award on their applications for college. Click on the link above to see all of the students who have received these awards.

Every year (sometimes twice) we have a cheese day where Madame buys a variety of French cheeses to share with students so that we can discover them. Students try Brie, Camembert, Chèvre (goat), Gruyère (swiss), and other cheeses, and even Paté de Campagne... usually for the first time!
In March, French 3 and AP students participate in the writing contest held by the Alliance Française in Pasadena. Students compete with French students from the entire San Gabriel Valley. Winners and their teachers receive recognition for their written fluency.
Once a year students from each French class prepare a French dish at home and bring it to school for Food Day. We share what we have made with the whole class, while Madame introduces the culture along with it.
