Students will learn to develop projects through the Engineering Design Cycle: identifying opportunities, generating ideas, creating prototypes, communicating value, and incorporating feedback. Students will use a variety of software and hardware to develop transferable skills, including 3D Design, 3D Printing, and Laser Cutting. Additionally, students will explore career opportunities in engineering, design, and drafting and what is required to pursue careers in these areas.
During the 2nd semester, students will integrate the skills developed to create prototype solutions for everyday problems. Through inquiry and problem solving, students will learn to apply the Engineering Design Cycle in new and creative ways to achieve innovation in disparate areas of society. Students will be required to create elevator pitches for their ideas, and will reach out to experts in fields relevant to their assignments.
