Concurrent Enrollment and ASCENT

Concurrent Enrollment Program (CE) 2023-24

In 2009, the Colorado State Legislature passed The Concurrent Enrollment Program Act which allows eligible high school students to enroll in college level courses at Colorado’s publicly funded community colleges.  The statute also allows all concurrent enrollment students the opportunity to earn both college and high school credit with the tuition being paid by their school district, in our case, Aurora Public Schools (Options School).

In 2019, the legislation was updated and the opportunities available through Concurrent Enrollment were expanded. Please review the linked materials below to learn more about CE or contact Mrs.  Covelli at fcovelli@aurorak12.org  for additional information.

• CE Timelines for Spring Semester 2024 -  Join a general information session at one of our Options Sites or schedule an appointment with Mrs. Covelli during October or early November 2023 . The deadline for completing the application process, required forms and registration  steps is November 30. 2023. 

ASCENT Program 2024-25 

Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment (ASCENT) is a fifth-year high school program that allows students to participate in concurrent enrollment the year after 12th grade, to enroll in postsecondary courses and earn college credit at no tuition cost to them or their families. Additional costs, such as textbooks, fees, and transportation, are usually paid by the family.  Check out the link below for our handout on the program or contact Mrs. Covelli at fcovelli @aurorak12.org for additional information.
