Concert Attendance Policy
Music performance is a necessary extension of the learning process. Most of our performances and activities take place after school hours and are required. Students are expected to attend all choir performances. All required performances for the year are listed on the calendar on the other side of this page.
If an unavoidable conflict does come up, you must let the director know at least one week before the performance date with a written note, phone call or e-mail from a parent describing a specific reason for your absence. This will give the choir time to prepare for your absence prior to the performance. Students must attend all parts of a concert to receive full credit.
In case of emergency or unplanned absences, please notify the director by e-mail or phone call immediately. You must notify Mrs. Parker in addition to notifying the school if you will miss a concert due to illness. If these criteria are not met, the absence is unexcused and the student will not be able to make it up.
If the student has an excused absence, the student may make up the grade by performing their assigned part for all of the literature performed in the missed concert. This can be done in the students’ home, recorded and turned in or performed for the teacher during school hours.
