Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers, health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. To become certified athletic trainers, students must graduate with bachelors or masters degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program and pass a comprehensive test administered by the Board of Certification. Once certified, they must meet ongoing continuing education requirements in order to remain certified.
During Practice and the Training Room is Open and/or Adriana is on campus at a game:
Find Adriana and let her know the injury. She will determine whether removal from practice/game is needed and/or being seen by a physician is needed. She will also tell you the proper treatment for the injury.
During Practice and the Training Room is Closed:
If you feel the injury is severe…go to the Emergency Room. Remember…you must bring a written doctor’s note stating the injury and what limitations you have to return to play/practice.
