Bead Rack:
Tell the learner to push over different amounts from 1-10 on the top row. For example say, "Push over 7 on the top row." Then say, "How many more do I need to make 10? Show me on the bottom row." Then have the learner write a number sentence to represent that combination such as 7 + 3 = 10. Continue doing this for various numbers 1-10.
Ten Frames:
Flash ten frames with different quantities 1-10.
How many do you see? How many are empty? What is an equation to represent that?
Games:
Snap off with 10 snap cubes(5 of each color), Partners to 10, Counters in a Cup, Ten Go Fish
Cuisenaire Rods:
Put rods in a bag. Pull out one rod from the bag, tell what number rod you would need to make 10. The learner can use the orange ten rod to help them figure it out if needed.
