Project 1: Adobe Express Poster
To explore the adobe express website, we were instructed to make a poster using it. There were no strict guidelines on what we needed other than an 11x17 poster, so I made a poster for a "Patrick's Premier Pizzeria". Note: No information on this screen, nor the pizzeria are real.
Highlights:
The tile patterns at the top and bottom add to the pizzeria vibe along with the other elements.
The color choice evokes 'old-school pizzeria' through the mix of a tan and red.
The pizza graphic in the center does a good job at drawing attention.
I wish i could have reorganized the "$3" and "World Famous Crust" stickers to better align with the pizza in the center
Here's an OREO critique from Elliot. (All Critiques)

The branches add a lot to the title.
An element I incorporated from a different poster that contrasts from some other more subdued elements.
I like the spacing between 'Hot' and 'Fresh'
To understand the 'pen' tool in illustrator, we made triangles into lager shapes. For this project I chose to make an 'Infinity" symbol using the triangles. I chose to make the colors blend into color groups.
The pink is where I started and the color choice was very deliberate.
Over 500 triangles are used in the piece, some are much smaller than others.
I mirrored one of the loops and put in onto the other to get the loop
I had planned for a different goal, but due to being severely behind I had to settle with how my project is now.

The triangles are constructed around the center, which would have had something inside.
The color change to yellow is pretty abrubt.
The intersection of colors is very satisfying.
We were instructed to make 3 skateboard designs, and for the second one I had the idea to make a shooting star breaking out of the night time side to the daytime. The piece also contrasts by having a regular shower on the left and a meteor shower on the right. The bottom 3rd of the board is reserved for "Weathering The Storm" which also has stretched text announcing: "Brace Yourself - s".
The extending lines from the star act as a crack, and a meteor trail.
The other meteor trails use a teal blue and light yellow which contrast well with the dark blue background.
The moon and sun both have a low opacity glow around them which adds details to an otherwise bland part of the piece.
The lightning and rain on the left are a bit small and might not easily be noticed.

The dark gray beneath the clouds add depth and detail to the day side.
the small lines of shattered glass as the star pokes out look really smooth.
The spots on the moon are a nice little touch that are not too loud.
Our largest project, in this project we needed to interview and research what would make for a good map of the school. I chose to make a "Runner's map" which would show commonly ran routes around MIramonte.
The loops are similar to subway lines , inspired by the BART map.
The track is well rounded and looks quite accurate.
I usually avoid using curves in the pen tool due to the inconsistency in how they'll turn out, and because the regular jagged lines can look quite nice.
The key in the bottom left occupies the barren area and fits well there.
The Hill repeats goes to Augusta, the Easy & Long Run route splits off in multiple directions.

Dots conveying overlaps, kinda hard to see, but are one of my favorite additions.
Arrows indicate which direction to come from/ go to from offscreen.
Very satisfying contiguous parallel paths.
In this project, we were instructed to make a poster of our choosing a specific brand, band, movie, company, or other. For this project I chose a favorite franchise of mine: Risk Of Rain. I started with the planet then the gradient and grass.
The debris belt between the two halves of the split planet looks very believable.
The gradient from stars to rain is pretty smooth, showing a convincing transition.
The Risk of Rain logo was a bit weaker than other elements, due to the lack of depth, it seems a bit tacked on.
The shading on the planet is okay, but a bit awkward in some places, shine and shade could use some work.

A bit too highly detailed Ukelele and grass, but I like it.
Comet soaring through the atmosphere.
Low opacity 'dust' around the planet.
