Being a member of the Cony community means:
You are respectful of yourself, others, and property
You are responsible for your actions, academics, and attitude
You are a contributor to a safe healthy school community
These rules and policies apply to any student who is on school property, who is in attendance at school or at any school-sponsored activity, or whose conduct at any time or place directly interferes with the operations, discipline or general welfare of the school.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and respectful manner in the hallways.
Cony expectations include:
Pass through the corridors respectfully, be considerate of others, and use inside voices.
Transition between classes directly and on time.
Keep corridors open to traffic by walking to the right.
Please discard trash in the containers provided.
Everyone in the halls has to have a pass during classes.
Keep your hands to yourself.
Use appropriate language.
Please remember that Middle School and High School classes are on different schedules. Use Inside Voices.
High School students and Middle School students need to keep separated during the school day.
No yelling, arguing, foul language, stopping traffic, eating, drinking, name calling, wandering, running, pushing, or other unsafe behavior.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and respectful manner in the Food Court.
Cony expectations include:
Enter the food court in a quiet and orderly manner.
Sit and enjoy conversations with friends at a healthy volume.
Clean up after yourself by throwing trash away.
Wait patiently and act appropriately when in line for food.
Keep your hands to yourself.
Students may use cell phones for texting and phone calls.
Students must use earbuds or headphones when listening to audio on electronic devices.
Students must stay in the Food Court until the end of lunch/breakfast/RAM time.
For Middle School: Students may use laptops if no food is on the table.
For Middle School: Seek permission of adult supervisors to move about the area for reasons other than the use of trash and recycle containers.
No swearing, running, throwing things, yelling, wandering or standing by tables, no sitting on tables, taking others’ belongings, taking pictures or video.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and respectful manner when interacting with each other.
Cony expectations include:
Be civil and respectful toward one another
Treat each other like you want to be treated.
Keep your hands to yourself.
Use kindness and empathy
If you don't have something positive to say, don't engage with the other student.
Listen when others speak.
Do your work and let others do their work.
Respect the property of others, including school property and facilities
Don’t bring drama into school.
No throwing things, touching, shouting, fighting, swearing, hitting, intimidation, taking other people’s possessions, talking about others.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and respectful manner when working with the staff.
Cony expectations include:
Listen to your teacher or staff member (without talking back).
Follow directions from school staff.
Cooperate with staff in maintaining school safety, order, and discipline.
Take responsibility for your actions.
Treat staff members with respect and use a respectful tone;
Understand that there is a time and place for behavior. School is similar to a place of work.
Don’t talk rudely, yell, swear, talk when the teacher/staff member is talking, ignore a teacher/staff member, call staff members “bros, hey yous” or other casual language.
Students may not agree with a staff member, but students must respect and follow their decisions/directions.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and respectful manner within the classroom/study hall.
Cony expectations include:
Be a ready and willing learner.
All students have the right to learn, and no one has the right to interfere with the rights of others.
When a teacher/staff member asks you to do something, do it the first time.
Listen to the teacher; don’t talk while the teacher is talking.
If students have concerns, talk to the teacher individually after class.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help or let the teacher know that things are difficult for you.
Come to class on time and prepared.
Clean up after yourself.
Use laptops appropriately.

All classroom/ school rules apply to study hall. Study halls should maintain an atmosphere where students who need to study can. All students should bring some kind of work with them to the study hall, along with necessary school materials such as pens, pencils and notebooks. Laptops should be used for academic purposes only.
Students are not excused from RAM time for anything other than pre-approved support with an available teacher or counselor. Students must follow the expectations and schedule of RAM time.
