I'm a recent graduate of Augustana, a liberal arts college in Rock Island, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Arts in cultural anthropology and environmental studies and a concentration of classes in computer science.
As a student of anthropology, I believe in bringing together objective research and subjective personal experience to tell true (written and audio) stories about people and the world. I write to try to understand a complicated, globalized world (and myself) better. I try to weave together scholarly conversations and real-life descriptions to make the anthropological and sociological theory I enjoy reading accessible to everyone.
At Augustana I was co-founder Producer of the independent student-run Lives of the Mind (LoM) podcast, which is produced in cooperation with WVIK, Quad Cities NPR. LoM releases long-form conversational interview episodes with professors, college alumni, and visiting lecturers on a monthly basis. Currently, I'm working as a part-time Production Assistant for WVIK.
