From 2019 to 2020, I worked as a part-time Production Assistant at WVIK, Quad Cities NPR.
Working under station CEO/General Manager and NPR Board of Directors member Jay Pearce, I was responsible for editing and producing several of WVIK's most downloaded programs for radio broadcast and distribution as podcasts to the station's audience in western Illinois and eastern Iowa.
Programs I edited:
I was also responsible for recording intros/outros, narration, and promos for the above programs using DAWs and Adobe Audition, and publishing web posts for podcast episodes online weekly using NPR's CMS.
The Great Quad Cities Listen is WVIK's StoryCorps-affiliated podcast. It represents an attempt to collect and share the diverse stories of Quad Citizens from all walks of life to gain civic pride, build connections, and create a more compassionate Quad Cities region. For a given episode, an interviewer and interviewee signed up for a recording session at WVIK or we took the session to them via a field recording. I then edited the 30-60+ minute conversational interviews for a narrative, and then down to 4-7 minutes for radio broadcast during Morning Edition and 20-30 minutes for distribution as podcast episodes. Full length interviews were then shared with StoryCorps and archived in the Library of Congress.
I recorded host Carolyn Martin's interviews with American artists in WVIK's studios and edited each 30-45-minute-long episode down to 4-7 minutes for radio broadcast during Morning Edition and 20-30 minutes for distribution as a podcast episode.

LOVE Girls is hosted by Jasmine Babers, the founder of Love Girls Magazine, and Mikhayla Hughes-Shaw, Miss Iowa 2018. I edited and produced episodes for the podcast's second season.
Lives of the Mind (LoM) explores the passions and pursuits of Augustana College professors, alumni, and visiting speakers who live their lives by their interests through meaningful conversations that cultivate curiosity and encourage lifelong learning. The podcast is an Augustana College student-run project recorded and produced at the Doris and Victor Day Broadcast Center in cooperation with WVIK, Quad Cities NPR.
I joined LoM in 2017, when the podcast was a side project within Augustana’s Austin E. Knowlton Honors Program. When the professor spearheading the project left the college in 2018, I established LoM as an officially-recognized independent student organization and forged a relationship with WVIK for production assistance.
As a podcast, LoM's goals are twofold:
Close the gap between academia and society by showing the human stories behind academic research through interviews with professors and visiting scholars/speakers from various disciplines
Highlight the value of a liberal arts education through interviews with Augustana alumni who have lived interesting "lives of the mind" and have been "in the world for the world" since graduating
I built LoM's website, www.livesofthemind.com, and created our Facebook and Twitter accounts in 2019. During my senior year, I worked as the podcast's Producer and established the Augustana Podcast Network, an initiative designed to provide the infrastructure and guidance for Augustana students and faculty to produce their own high quality audio content for our website and add their diverse voices to the world of podcasting.
