Tutoring - Staunton Augusta Waynesboro Tutoring Network
The Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Tutoring Network (SAW Tutoring) is sponsored by the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge and administered by the Staunton-Augusta YMCA. Mary Baldwin University also partners with SAW tutoring by recruiting college students to be tutors and also by offering the expertise of their education faculty.
All tutoring sessions are online, and all K-12 students in the area are eligible to participate. Sessions are monitored by a staff member from the Staunton-Augusta YMCA in order to protect both students and tutors.
Volunteer tutors have been through an application process that includes a background check, three reference checks, and a mandatory online abuse prevention training program. Additionally, we offer ongoing support and resources for our tutors.

Outpatient Counseling
During stressful times, it is not uncommon for young people to need additional support. Many of the resources they commonly rely on are less available during this challenge of social distancing, school closures, and limited community engagement. We have included this list of local outpatient counseling services as a starting point for families.

Stop, Breathe, and Think - Check in with how you’re feeling, and try short activities tuned to your emotions.
Daylio Journal: you can record your moods and activities. This format will help you to understand your habits better. Keep track of your activities and create patterns to become more productive.
