STEAM education is an approach to learning that incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math into real-world, inquiry-based learning experiences for our students!
Through these experiences, students gain opportunities to become curious, empathetic problem solvers who create, communicate, think critically, and empower each other! They are given agency and choice when creating, use new technologies, take on authentic roles (game designers, music composers, animators, earthquake engineers, architects, technologists, etc.), learn how STEAM practices are used in various careers by working with community members, connect content they are studying in class, and have opportunities to utilize 21st century skills (5 Cs).
We use the engineering design process to imagine a problem, design a solution, make a plan, create, test, improve, and reflect on our solutions and experiences! We also CELEBRATE MISTAKES, as they help us grow and learn!
The students at Clymore have STEAM experiences during their specials rotations AND within their classrooms. They can also integrate STEAM while learning at home!
I am looking forward to helping equip our students with 21st century skills to be successful in jobs that don’t even exist yet, as well as tasks they’re expected to complete every day. Our Clymore Cardinals are innovative and curious learners, and I can't wait to experience STEAM with them this year!
