The most important week of your course is the three days before it opens, the day it opens, and the three days after it opens. This is important because during these seven days is when every student forms their opinion on the kind of experience they are going to have. It is therefore imperative to get these seven days right. By following the guidance offered here, you can make the most of your remote teaching experience and give your students the best possible learning experience in this time of remote instruction.
Post All Course Content to Blackboard
All course materials and information needed to succeed in the course should be available on the course Blackboard site. If everything is on Blackboard, students will not have to go looking for things and you will not have to answer questions about where to find content.
Before the course starts: A clear syllabus that provides a weekly schedule, outlines milestones, and assessments etc., should be available to students as soon as the course starts.
By the first day: Make sure you have the content for the first few weeks posted before the class opens to help students understand how your course will run.
As soon as possible: Add additional content as soon as possible, to avoid issues related to Internet connectivity or other technology failures
