Welcome to Team Bradbury!
School Expectations
Students should arrive at school between 7:15am and 7:25am. If they are later than 7:25am , they must check-in with the main office. Regular attendance is important to a students growth educationally and personally. It supports positive habits as well as peer and staff relationships.
Students should come to school prepared to learn-well-rested, fully charged I-Pad, with their school supplies and assignments for the day. Reminder: It is a good idea to pack a snack and a water bottle to keep well-hydrated! But keep them aways from the I-Pads please to prevent accidents.
Students will not be allowed to use cell phones between 7:15 and 2:00. Students may ask permission at appropriate times if needed. If parents have an emergency, they should contact the office at 333-6655. Cell Phones will be kept in lockers and turned off for the day.
Students need to be respectful, responsible and safe at AMS. It is important for students to share any concerns about themselves or others with AMS staff so help and supports can be provided.
If things are not working out like you planned and you need help ... please don't wait. I am happy to help students get back on track.
I am available after school for academic support! Students can email me or talk to me during the day to make arrangements. I at times have meetings and prior engagements, so it is important students talk to me about staying after for support.
Help your Middle Schooler be Successful!
1. Attendance is critical : Students who miss class time miss the opportunity to gain information, complete assignments, and participate in class discussions. We understand that there are times that students will need to miss class, so please have the student check Google Classroom as well as check in with teachers to see what they missed and make a plan for catching up.
2. Organization: Students have a variety of assignments to keep track of from different teachers. A planner will help them be organized, or find some other way to keep track of assignments. (electronic solution - Google Keep is a great app!) - See Mrs. Lariviere if you need help.
Help your teen be prepared and ready to learn by helping them set a routine to make sure they are getting enough sleep, have their bag ready, staying hydrated, and the I-Pad charged.
Have students check their Powerschool (online grading system) often and read the comments that teachers provide. Parents can also sign up for updates directly from Powerschool.
Encourage study skills and preparing for any tests a week or several days before. Teachers are always available to help and willing to share study skill advice with students and their families.
3. Growth Mindset: Students will make mistakes and that is how they learn. Simply put, a growth mindset is believing that your brain can grow and you can learn many new things. You are not born smart; you become smart. Willing to try new things and persevering when things are difficult is important to personal growth not only in school but in life.
4. Communication: Please reach out to teachers with any questions and/or concerns. If you would like to be a member of the PTO or support our team/school in some way. AMS also has school counselors and social workers available to support students, please reach out if you need anything.
Parents please remember to ask your students about their day and what they are learning. *Your interest matters to your teen!
