Session Description:  Required Training for Staff Administering WIDA ACCESS Online

Session Description:  This course is designed for all staff that will administer or assist with the administration of any Washington state assessment (SBA ELA, SBA Math, WCAS, WA-AIM, WIDA, WIDA Access).  Staff completing this course will:

• Complete mandatory security requirements for the 25-26 SY 

• Understand what accommodations, designated supports and universal tolls are available for students

• Know how to determine eligibility for Text-to-Speech

Session Description:  This training is intended to improve skills in using AAC and iPads to support students' communication needs. It will provide background knowledge, hands on experience and allow you time to ask questions and problem solve with the group outside of the classroom.  

We will have snacks, and you can earn clock hours.  You do not have to attend all 4 parts of the training if you do want wish.  Each training will build on the last one but we are confident we can get you up to speed if you don’t attend all of them.

If you attend, please bring your therapy or classroom AAC iPad with you.   If you have attended in the past but would like a refresher we are happy to have you attend again.

Session Description:  Wayground (formerly Quizizz) brings together flexible resources for instruction, practice, and assessment in a fun, easy-to-use platform that boosts achievement and confidence. 

 You can access and/or create gamified resources, conduct formative assessments, start live sessions or assign them as homework, differentiate instruction, tap into detailed performance reports, and so much more!

Session Description:  In this Class you will use and compare at least 3 different AI Generators to create Graphic Images that you can use for your classrooms, schools, or with students. You will become familiar with how these image generators can be used for staff purposes and how Canva Image Generator can be used with students to support classroom learning. If a picture is worth a thousand words, learn how your own custom images can help you and your students communicate more effectively using AI as the powerful tool it can be.

Session Description:  Explore the new Google Vids and how to help students create engaging presentations. Use this time to learn about the features of Vids so you can better help your students in creating engaging presentations on any topic. Students will be able to convert Slides, record video, create voice over, and imbed graphics for classroom presentations.

Session Description: As 3-year-old Emilio prepares to start school, his family finds itself embroiled in a challenge all too common for children with disabilities – to secure the right to an inclusive education. Cornered in one of the most segregated education systems, New York City public schools, filmmaker Olivier and his wife Hilda turn the camera on themselves and their child with Down syndrome, as they navigate a byzantine system originally designed to silo children with disabilities.

Session Description: This training provides a practical guide to planning for student need by exploring the difference between accommodations and modifications and demonstrating how many of these supports can be provided universally. We will explore the strong connection between supports for students with IEPs and Multilingual Learners. Participants will have the opportunity to closely analyze the specific needs of students with IEPs in their classes, and consider how to embed support universally to decrease planning time and increase student engagement.

Session Description:  This interactive training introduces five free, practical AI tools and applications that support equity and content mastery for multilingual, SPED, and diverse learners, and all framed within a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and SIOP approach to reduce prep time while increasing student engagement, confidence, and access to rigorous content. Educators will explore using AI to embed content-specific SIOP-scaffolded supports into their already practiced lessons with sentence frames, word banks, step-by-step instructions, and more ways to make content comprehensible. They will also learn how to use responsive SchoolAI Co-Teacher chatbots for scaffolding and clarifying for students, paras, co-teachers, and even homework help, along with Canva-based visuals & slides, Brisk tools for Google Classroom, and gamified assessments using WayGround/Quizizz and CFAs. Participants will leave with ready-to-use resources and a clearer vision of how to integrate AI ethically and effectively—one BYTE at a time.

Session Description: For Librarians and Library Paras only.

The State Library is hosting an all-day online PD on 10th October, and will post the recordings online afterwards.

The day will start with a timely and topical keynote on AI and media literacy by Alana Winnick, author of The Generative Age: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education. Gavin Downing, Washington teacher librarian and ALA Councilor, will bring us all back together to talk about law and advocacy for school librarians. The rest of this year’s sessions will focus on bringing back joy and creativity, and put the focus on the practitioner, highlighting the projects, programs, and innovations that your colleagues have successfully brought to their classrooms and libraries … and will now offer to you!
