**AI One BYTE at a Time: 5 Practical & FREE Tips and Tools for Integrating AI for Equity in Learning & Content Mastery

Session Description: This interactive training introduces five free, practical AI tools and applications that support equity and content mastery for multilingual, SPED, and diverse learners, and all framed within a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and SIOP approach to reduce prep time while increasing student engagement, confidence, and access to rigorous content. Educators will explore using AI to embed content-specific SIOP-scaffolded supports into their already practiced lessons with sentence frames, word banks, step-by-step instructions, and more ways to make content comprehensible. They will also learn how to use responsive SchoolAI Co-Teacher chatbots for scaffolding and clarifying for students, paras, co-teachers, and even homework help, along with Canva-based visuals & slides, Brisk tools for Google Classroom, and gamified assessments using WayGround/Quizizz and CFAs. Participants will leave with ready-to-use resources and a clearer vision of how to integrate AI ethically and effectively—one BYTE at a time.

The day will start with a timely and topical keynote on AI and media literacy by Alana Winnick, author of The Generative Age: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education. Gavin Downing, Washington teacher librarian and ALA Councilor, will bring us all back together to talk about law and advocacy for school librarians. The rest of this year’s sessions will focus on bringing back joy and creativity, and put the focus on the practitioner, highlighting the projects, programs, and innovations that your colleagues have successfully brought to their classrooms and libraries … and will now offer to you!
