Your student will be challenged to think critically, problem-solve, and develop their artistic voice in this project-based, visual arts CTE class. We expect dedication, effort, and a positive attitude from all students. Students will learn about the visual arts of graphic design, photography, and videography through project based-learning.
A student’s performance on assessments (80%) and practice work (20%) will determine their grade through daily work and 10+ projects throughout the semester. Students should have enough time in class to complete projects if attendance is regular. Timely completion of work and contributing regularly and positively to class will factor into their 21st Century Skills grade as well.
Updated grades are posted regularly for parents and students on Family Access, so you can track student success. Students will record their weekly assignments on their planner for upcoming due dates.
CTE courese are designed prepare students college and careers. Developing these skills will help will help students prepare for their future. Stundets will receive a grade-based on how well learn these skills as a collaborative member of class. They should treat this class as model for future employment. Demonstrating good citizenship, critical thinking communication, growth mindset, colloboration, creativity will all help stundets meet standard on VisCom 7-8.
1 day late = 79% is the highest possible score a student can receive.
Late work will not be accepted beyond a two weeks past deadline (unless absent).

One day late - 85% is the highest possible score a student can receive.
Two days late-two weeks late - 50% is the highest possible score that a student can receive.
No late project-based assessments will be accepted after two weeks.
Multiple Choice
Corrections for half points - 80% is the highest possible score a student can receive.
Prove understanding by explaining why the correct answer is correct and provide text evidence to support.
No retakes if missing practice work.
Students could complete all late work and turn things into the teacher to retake a test, but no credit will be given for the late practice work.

A student’s performance on assessments (80%) and practice work (20%) will determine their grade.
Students will have two weeks to submit missing practice work from the day the assignment is due. After two weeks, the student will receive a zero for the assignment.
Students will have two weeks to make up a missed assessment from the day of the assessment. It is the responsibility of the student to schedule a time to make up the assessment. After two weeks, the student will receive a zero for the assessment unless otherwise arranged with the teacher.
Missing/late final projects are subject to specific terms addressed with students when the project is assigned. Typically students will lose points for each day the project is late. All missing/late work must be completed within one week of the end of the grading period.
Scheduling of retakes will be arranged between student and teacher. It is the responsibility of the student to request a retake.
Students will have two weeks to retake practice work and/or assessments from the date assignment/assessment is handed back. All retake work must be completed within one week of the end of the grading period.
