Freeze Prevention Program
A Message Regarding Site Visit Instructions for All
Your help is important in protecting our buildings, and is greatly appreciated. Within one hour of the start of your shift please check your building for freeze and/or weather related damage and issues.
Building Check Procedures:
Check every room in your building, including storage, electrical, and mechanical rooms. Check for abnormal temperature, water dripping or running, or other abnormal conditions. It is not necessary to measure the temperature in every room, just be alert for rooms significantly colder, or hotter, then expected.
Check all plumbing fixtures to ensure they are not frozen. Run hot and cold water for 10 seconds, and flush toilets and urinals. Any fixture that does not work, or that the water barely trickles out of may have frozen pipes—please report it.
Shut off all water, and make sure the toilets and urinals stop running before leaving the space.
Do not leave any water running unless you receive a separate email, specifically requesting this.
Ensure all exterior hoses are disconnected.
6. If your school has a Field House or any other buildings such as greenhouses with water please check them. This includes, but is not limited to:
a) Auburn Riverside Field House.
b) Auburn High School Concessions Building.
c) Auburn Mountainview Field House (including the restrooms and concession stand.
d) Auburn Memorial Stadium, all buildings.
Building Check Reporting Procedures:
Report any unusual issues (leaks, frozen pipes, building damage, etc…) as soon as you find them. Call the Maintenance & Operations Department Office at 253-931-4955 so we can dispatch a Maintenance Technician. If you’re unable to reach anyone by telephone, please send an email to: SS_Support@auburn.wednet.edu. If you have an emergency, please follow the Procedures for Notification of an Absence from Work and Notification of a Building Emergency guideline posted in the Custodial Office.
At the completion of your checks please email your results to SS_Support@auburn.wednet.edu. It is important to report the completion of your checks, even if you do not find any problems. Include your school name in all emails.
