What is Play Therapy and why?
Play therapy allows children to communicate and learn in the way that is most natural to them. Play therapy is different from “just” playing. Play therapy helps children express their feelings, assume responsibility for their behaviors and develop problem-solving skills.
The non-verbal approach of Play Therapy is beneficial for all children, and is especially helpful with multilingual students and children who have experienced trauma.
Play therapists are trained mental health practitioners who specialize in helping children. I have my Certificate in Play Therapy from Antioch University and am currently completing clinically supervised work towards licensure in play therapy.
