My name is Juan F. Nunez and I'm a Spanish teacher at Auburn Riverside High School. I was born in a tiny village , la Boquilla de Gerardo, Durango, México before my father brought us to the United States when I was six years old. I grew up in the small farming community of Dos Palos, CA in the Central Valley. I graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1991 and went to St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA where I played football for four years. After college, I returned to Dos Palos to teach and coach football and wrestling for seven years before coming to Washington to teach and coach at Riverside in 2002. I love teaching at Riverside and very proud to be a part of an amazing World Language Department. I'm a Spanish teacher because I love sharing my passion for my Mexican culture and the Spanish language. I want to show students how learning another language opens the world to many new opportunities, either professionally or personally. I want to create a safe learning environment that allows students and I to take risks and make mistakes. All of us are learning new things and we are here to help each other. I'm a huge Dallas Cowboys and Duke Bluedevils basketball fan!
